Funding for Free Forestry and Arboriculture Training Courses Coming Soon

Thinking about a career in forestry or arboriculture, or looking to build and diversify your existing skills?

Then get ready to sign up to the Forestry and Arboriculture Training Fund. Additional government funding for short training courses in forestry is to be made available following unprecedented demand earlier this year. Funding will also be extended to cover short arboriculture training courses.

The full cost of a training course will be covered (students will be required to cover expenses, such as travel). Courses can be undertaken during 2023/24 and 2024/25.

Examples of forestry short training courses that will be available include coppicing, chainsaw maintenance, managing woodland, planning and planting a new woodland, to marketing and selling timber. New to this round of funding will be short courses in arboriculture such as aerial tree pruning, branch removal and crown reduction, as well as assisted felling and tree surveying.

Online registration will open soon. Funding will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Visit Forestry and Arboriculture Training Fund – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) to find out more before applying.
